Why is the sky blue? Where does the
rain come from? Why are some animals
furry and some are not? Where do polar
bears live? Why do magnets stick to the
refrigerator?
Science is all about asking questions and investigating and researching to find out the answers.
We began the year investigating who scientists are and how scientists work safely and orderly. Now we are in the middle of our Physical Science study of Magnetism. We have learned a lot from our exploration and investigations. Here are some things we have learned:
Magnets stick to chair legs, marker board, some pencil ends, paper clips, door frame, another magnet, windows with wires in them.
Magnets do not stick to pennies, chair seat, crayons, door, paper, books, window with no wire, unifix cubes, blocks, clothes.
Magnets must stay away from Miss Fairchild's computer.( or any computer)
Magnets have a north and a south side or end.
Same sides don't like each other, they repel or push away. Different sides like each other, they attract or pull together.
Magnets can pull through things.
Magnets have different amount of power.
