Congratulations to 4th grader Leila Portillo, Character Without Question recipient from Sherwood!

Every year, SBISD honors students district-wide who reflect a depth of character and a caring for human beings. Students are selected for demonstrating an enduring commitment to any or all of the following character traits: honesty/integrity, responsibility/dependability, respect, perseverance/effort, courage, caring/kindness, and citizenship/civic virtue.

Leila’s counselor, Kala McKnight, wrote, “Leila always follows directions and is kind to every student in her class and around campus. She makes it a point to compliment others just to make them feel good. She rarely breaks any rules, but if she does, she is honest about her mistakes. Leila always has a smile on her face and many of her classmates look up to her.” Leila was selected for her commitment to honesty and integrity, perseverance, and kindness.
