Principal's Message
Sherwood Elementary from SBISD
Sarah Salas
Sherwood Elementary Principal
Ms. Salas has been the principal of Sherwood Elementary since March 2019. This year marks Ms. Salas’s 26th year as a public school educator. She is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and earned her master's degree in educational leadership from Lamar University.
Ms. Salas has served the students of Spring Branch ISD for 19 years. Her background in the area of language acquisition and her prior position in the Bilingual/ESL Department as an instructional coach have helped her develop as an educator who truly believes in giving students the opportunity to acquire academic language. Ms. Salas was employed in the SBISD bilingual department when the one-way and two-way dual language programs were first introduced in Spring Branch ISD. She served as an assistant principal for four years at Pine Shadows Elementary, which is also a two-way dual language choice school, and continues the work today at Sherwood Elementary.
Sherwood's cultural diversity and family atmosphere are what brought Ms. Salas to Sherwood. "It is truly a family, and I'm honored to serve the SWE community!"
